Professional Bio
Colonel (retired) John M. House received his commission as a Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery, on 5 June 1975 from Auburn University after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business degree. He served in command and staff positions in the United States, Germany, South Korea, and Southwest Asia (Desert Shield and Desert Storm) while serving in a variety of units including the 82d Airborne Division, 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized), 1st Armored Division, 19th Theater Army Area Command, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and U.S. Army Forces Command. Colonel House retired from the Army in 2001 after spending 26 years in uniform. Since retirement from the Army, he has worked as a consultant and Army civilian employee. Once earning his PhD, Dr. House taught public administration and homeland security part-time for several universities. He has had three books (Why War? Why an Army?, Wolfhounds and Polar Bears: The American Expeditionary Force in Siberia, 1918-1920, and Raider’s War), a chapter in a homeland security textbook, and over 300 periodical articles, opinion columns, and news articles published. In 2019, Colonel House helped his wife, Marilyn, complete her book titled Home is Where the Movers Leave You and co-authored a US Army Center of Military History pamphlet titled The Russian Expeditions, 1917-1920. Colonel House also served almost 5 years as a Councilor for the Columbus, GA Consolidated Government.
