EDUCATION
B.S., Ceramic Engineer, Clemson University, 1973; M.B.A., Wake Forest University, 2000; M.A. Strategic Studies, U.S. Army War College

MILITARY SERVICE
Mr. Martin entered the Army in 1973 through ROTC as a Field Artillery Officer serving in 1/17th Field Artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as an XO, AXO, BC, and BN FDO. He joined the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) in 1982 serving in the 1/113th Field Artillery. While assigned to the NCNG, Martin commanded at all levels of command to include Btry Cmdr, Bn Cmdr, and FA Bde Cmdr, In 2005, he was promoted to brigadier general as the Assistant Adjutant General, Army. His final assignments before his retirement in 2008 was NC Joint Taskforce Commander and the Dual-hatted position as Deputy Commanding General, National Guard, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
