COL Pete Mehling was commissioned in the Field Artillery on 17 January, 1997. Past assignments include Platoon Leader, 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery, 2nd Infantry Division, Uijeongbu, Korea; Fire Support Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division; Adjutant, 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY; Battalion Fire Support Officer for the 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division; and Battery Commander, 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas and Ar Ramadi, Iraq. In the New York Army National Guard, he has served as Survey Team Leader, 2nd Civil Support Team, Scotia; Current Operations Officer and Plans Officer, Headquarters, 42nd Infantry Division, Troy; and Battalion Operations and Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery, 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Jamaica, New York, State Training Officer and Deputy Director of Operations for the New York Army National Guard, Latham, New York, Commander, 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery, Operations Officer, 42nd Infantry Division, Troy, NY, and Director of Logistics for the NY Army National Guard, in Latham, NY. COL Mehling is currently the Chief of Staff of the 42ID.
