Professional Bio
Commissioned in the US Army Field Artillery in 1997, he has served a variety of positions throughout the United States, Europe, and SW Asia.
Previously, he served as the Chief of Staff for the 56th Artillery Command supporting US Army Europe-Africa (USAREUR-AF) from 2021-2022. He also served as the served as the USAREUR-AF Chief of Fires from 2019-2021, Commander of 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment (HIMARS) from 2015 to 2017 and the Director of the Multi-Domain Task Force (MDTF) Project Office for the US Army Training and Doctrine Command from 2017-2019. In total, he has nine years of overseas service; through stationing in Germany, combat tours in Iraq, an advisory mission in Ukraine, and an operational tour in Kosovo.
Colonel Sittenauer has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and three masters’ degrees from Central Michigan University, the US Army Command and General Staff College, and the US Army School of Advanced Military Studies. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the Award for the Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Colonel Sittenauer and his wife have been married for 26 years and have two daughters.
