Guy M. Bourn received his Commission to the FA from the US Military Academy in 1974. Upon graduation from the Basic Course in 1975, he remained at Fort Sill, and served as a platoon leader/instructor, Battery Executive Officer, and Commander of E BTRY, 1st Cannon Training BN. Following battery command, he served as the Aide-de-Camp to the CG, US Army FA Center and School. He then attended the Advanced Course before reporting to Augsburg Germany in 1979, where he served as the Assistant S-3, 1st BN, 18th FA, 17th FA BDE, then as Commander, B BTRY, 1st BN, 18th FA, and finally as the S3 for the Battalion. Following Germany, and after CGSC, he attended the USN Postgraduate School in Monterrey, where he received a Masters. MG Bourn then returned to Fort Sill, where he served as the Field Artillery Branch Chief, followed by a year as the Secretary of the General Staff. In 1988 he returned to Germany to serve as the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator, 1st Armored DivArty. A year later, he was assigned to 4th Infantry Division where he served as Operations Officer in the 4th Infantry DivArty, then as the XO, 5th BN, 29th FA and finally as the Commander, 3rd BN, 29th FA. Following command, he was assigned to Washington, D.C. where he served as the Senior Aide to the Secretary of the Army. Following War College, he returned to the Pentagon to serve as Branch Chief, Training and Simulations Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. He again returned to Fort Sill in 1995 and served as the Acting Installation Logistical Officer for one year before assuming Command of the 17th FA BDE. Next, he served as the Chief of Staff, US Field Artillery Center and Fort Sill before returning to Washington D.C. in 1998 to serve as a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff until June 2000. There he was a member of the negotiating team which ended the Kosovo bombing campaign. He was promoted to Brigadier General and assumed command of III Corps Artillery at Fort Sill, which was the largest and most powerful FA unit in the world at that time.  In 2002 he assumed duties as the Chief, Office of Military Cooperation, Egypt where he was promoted to Major General and oversaw the second largest military assistance program in the DoD. MG Bourn retired in 2004 after 30 years of dedicated service to his country. He then accepted a position as Vice President, Sokhna Port, the first privately operated seaport in Egypt where he negotiated ‘sister port’ agreements with other ports around the world. He also served as a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, Cairo, Egypt. In 2007 he left Egypt to accept a position in business development for ATK and played a role in corporate decisions for products related to the Army, most notably, he was active in the development of PGK. From 2010-2014, he served as the President of USFAA and assisted the integration of the ADA to Fort Sill including joint tattoo ceremonies. He oversaw a significant increase of scholarship funds using private donations and helped develop the chapter award program. He has served on other volunteer Boards including the Marshall Legacy Institute, Washington, D.C., West Point Society, Advisory Council at West Point, USMA Class of 1974 Fund Raising Committee for the 40th reunion and Steak Team Mission; a non-profit organization dedicated to serving members of the armed forces.
